# Upload documents

> Upload PDFs and photos from your computer to Billpal.

If an invoice is already on your computer, upload it straight to Billpal. Billpal reads it and creates a document, just like documents from your inbox.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the workspace">
    The document goes to the workspace that's currently open. If you're in several, switch to the right one in the sidebar first.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the upload">
    Go to **Documents** and click **Upload**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose files">
    Drag the files into "Upload files" or click **Select files**. Then click **Upload**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Billpal accepts PDF, JPG and PNG, up to 10 files at once and at most 10 MB per file. Each file becomes its own document. So if an invoice has several pages, upload it as one PDF rather than as separate photos.

The document shows up in the list after a few seconds. What happens next is described in [Find and edit documents](/en/documents).

## Good to know

* **Duplicate files**: If you upload a file that's already in Billpal, Billpal doesn't create a second document.
* **Trial**: Once the [trial](/en/billing#trial) ends or its 50 documents are used up, you can upload again after subscribing.
* **E-invoices**: You can upload ZUGFeRD and Factur-X PDFs as usual. A standalone XML file isn't accepted yet.

## Other ways into Billpal

Uploading is the quickest way for single files. To have invoices arrive on their own, connect a source instead:
