Billpal bills by the number of documents processed per month. Every plan has the same features. They only differ in how many documents are included.
The account owner manages the subscription and payment under Settings > Billing. Admins and members don’t see the subscription there. What an account is is explained in Workspaces and team.

Trial

The trial lasts 7 days and needs no card. During that time Billpal processes up to 50 documents. The 50 cover the whole trial, not each month, and all workspaces of the account together. Under Settings > Billing you can see how many days and trial documents you have left. Two limits apply during the trial:
  • You can connect up to three portals.
  • An inbox’s start date doesn’t offer “All past email”.

When the trial ends

Once the trial is over or its 50 documents are used up, Billpal stops processing new documents until you subscribe:
  • Upload: New uploads are blocked.
  • Email: Billpal holds back new documents from your inboxes. After you subscribe, Billpal processes them automatically.
  • WhatsApp: Billpal doesn’t accept files and tells you so in the chat. Send them again after subscribing.
  • Portals: Scheduled runs pause and resume with your subscription.
Your existing documents stay in Billpal.

Plans

Paying annually saves you two months. In the eurozone you pay in euros, at the same numbers as in dollars: €29 instead of $29. Everywhere else, including Switzerland, Billpal bills in US dollars. Workspaces cost nothing extra. The allowance covers all workspaces of the account together.

What counts

Invoices, receipts, credit notes and reminders count toward your allowance. Documents of type “Other” don’t count, and neither do your Billpal invoices. For duplicate files, Billpal doesn’t create a document in the first place. A processed document stays counted even if you delete it later. Unused documents expire at the end of the month and don’t carry over.

Extra documents

If Billpal processes more documents than your plan includes, each extra document costs the price in the table above. Billpal bills them at the end of every month, even if you pay for your plan annually. Under Settings > Billing you can see how many documents you used this month and what extra documents have cost so far.

Overage credit

When you subscribe, Billpal gives you credit for extra documents. Billpal applies it automatically before you pay for extra documents. The credit doesn’t expire. You can’t use it for the plan itself, and you can’t buy more of it.

Subscribe

1

Open billing

Go to Settings > Billing.
2

Pick a plan

Under Select plan, pick the number of documents you need per month.
3

Pay

Click Subscribe. Billpal opens Stripe, where you enter your payment details.
In Billpal you start a monthly subscription. If you’d rather pay annually, switch in Stripe afterwards.

Manage your subscription

  • Switch plan: Opens Stripe. Before you confirm, Stripe shows what changes and from when. If the change takes effect later, Billpal shows the date.
  • Manage billing: Opens Stripe. There you change your card, billing address and payment method.
  • Monthly or annual: Switch under Manage billing in Stripe. Monthly to annual applies right away, and Stripe credits the rest of the month. Annual to monthly applies from the end of the current year.
If Stripe couldn’t collect a payment, the subscription shows “Past due”. Billpal keeps working. Add a new payment method under Manage billing.

Invoices

Your Billpal invoices are under Settings > Billing in “Invoices”. You can download them or add them straight to a workspace as documents. They don’t count toward your allowance.

Cancel

Under Settings > Billing, in the “Danger zone”, click Cancel subscription and confirm in Stripe. Your subscription keeps running until the end of the paid period. After that, Billpal pauses your inboxes and portals. If you subscribe again later, they pick up where they left off. For refund questions, contact support at support@billpal.io.
