Set up forwarding
1
Enter your sender address
Go to Settings > Email, click Add, and choose Forwarding. Under Source email, enter the address you’ll forward from. Confirm “I understand Billpal will process emails I forward” and click Continue.
2
Copy your Billpal address
Your Billpal address shows the address you send invoices to from now on. Copy it, and consider saving it as a contact in your email app.
3
Activate
Click Activate. Once Billpal shows “You can now forward documents to this address”, forwarding is ready.
What Billpal does with a forwarded email
- PDF attachments up to 10 MB are imported. Each PDF becomes its own document.
- Invoices in the email body: If the email has no PDF but is itself the invoice, Billpal saves the body as a PDF and creates a document from it.
- Photos and scans attached as JPG or PNG aren’t imported through forwarding. Upload them or send them via WhatsApp.
Only from your sender address
Billpal only accepts emails from the sender address you registered. If you forward from a different address, nothing is imported and you get a notification. That way no one else can send documents into your workspace, even if your Billpal address gets out. If you forward from several addresses, set up forwarding once for each.Automatic forwarding rules in your email app usually keep the original sender, for example your supplier’s address. Billpal doesn’t accept those emails. Forward invoices by hand instead. If you want invoices to arrive automatically, connect your inbox.
Pause or delete forwarding
Under Settings > Email, click the forwarding connection.- Pause: Billpal stops processing forwarded emails until you turn forwarding back on with Activate. If you forward something in the meantime, Billpal lets you know.
- Delete: Removes the forwarding. Documents already imported stay in Billpal.
