You connect iCloud Mail with an app-specific password. That’s a separate password you create in your Apple Account just for Billpal. You never enter your actual Apple Account password in Billpal. App-specific passwords require two-factor authentication on your Apple Account. Most accounts already have it turned on.
1

Create an app-specific password

Create one at account.apple.com. Apple explains how in Sign in to apps with your Apple Account using app-specific passwords. Give it a name you’ll recognize later, such as “Billpal”, and copy it.
2

Choose iCloud

In Billpal, go to Settings > Email, click Add, and choose iCloud.
3

Enter your details

In Connect iCloud, enter your iCloud address under Email and paste the password you just created under App password. Display name sets what the inbox is called in Billpal.
4

Set the start date and connect

Use Start date to choose how far back Billpal imports documents. If you send your own invoices by email, also check Also import invoices from your Sent folder. Then click Connect.
For the start date options and what Billpal imports from your inbox, see Import documents from your inbox.

If something goes wrong

You can have up to 25 app-specific passwords at once. If you no longer need the one for Billpal, revoke it at account.apple.com. Billpal can’t read the inbox after that.
